Caldey Reconciliation

The reconciliation of the Caldey monks has been ascribed to the Octave, as well as that of the Servants of Christ the King. It is therefore peculiarly fitting that the latter community Should be charged with the promotion of the Octave.
Pope Pius X gave his special approval to
the Octave. In 1916. Benedict XV issued a Brief recommending its observance to the universal Church and enriching it with indulgencies. It has been the custom of the present Holy Father, Pius XI, to offer Mass for the intentions of the Octave on the Feast of St. Peter's Chair.
In addition to the general approval given by the Sovereign Pontiffs, the observance of the Octave has been sanctioned in England by various Ordinaries for their respective dioceses, and the Scots hierarchy has given its unanimous approbation. Progress in Ireland has been remarkable during the last two years. The Octave is widely observed by Catholics on the Continent and all over the world, and also (in their own , way, of course) by many Anglicans. Epis copalians, and Orthodox.
The promotors hope that next January many more English Catholics, both individuals and communities, will join in this week of prayer for Christian Unity and the restoration of all things in Christ. Those who are willing to co-operate with the Servants of Christ the King in preparing for a worthy observance of the Octave are asked to communicate with them now. All who wish for further information, or copies of the leaflet containing the Octave Prayers, are asked to apply to the Octave Secretary, Mount Olivet Monastery, Frensham, Farnham, Surrey.
