Eucharistic Congress

The Pope appoints new president
The Holy Father has ap
pointed Mgr. Alexander Vachon, Archbishop of Ottawa, to be president of the Permanent Committee of the International Eucharistic Congress for a term of 10 years.
He succeeds the late Mgr. Heylen, Bishop of Namur, who was celebrated not only as an organiser but for his habit of learning the language of every country in which these congresses were held.
Congresses have been held in London and Dublin. The last was in Manila before the war.
They are always presided over by a Papal Legate.
The appointment of a new president is said to indicate that a congress will be held next year.
