Eire, this Sunday, will include Pontifical Mass, followed by the unveiling of the new shrine presented by Dr. Roche, Bishop of Cloyne, to contain a silver reliquary and relic of Blessed Oliver, given to the Cathedral by Dr. William Lee, Bishop of Clifton.
The shrine, made by Wm. Egan and Sons, Cork, is of hand wrought brass and studded with jewels. In form and decoration it harmonises with the cathedral. When exposed for veneration of. the relic, with its double doors, the shrine takes the form of a triptych, thereby repeating a characteristic feature of the church.
