Honours for Catholics

THE New Year Honours List includes a score of Catholics, among them disc jockey Jimmy Savilc, who was awarded the 0.B.E., and the creator of "The Hobbits," Prof. J. R. R. Tolkien, who was made a C.B.E.
Jimmy Savile received the award for his regular but littleknown work as a hospital porter and prison visitor, as well as for his generous donations to charities. Ile is a regular visitor to Broadmoor and Leeds Hospital, where he acts as a porter.
Miss Kathleen Louisa Lynch, bursar at the Mary Ward Catholic College of Education, Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, becomes an M.B.E. She has worked in e d u c a tional administration since 1934.
