Leeds Consecration on September 24
DR. George Dwyer, Bishop-elect of Leeds, will be consecrated in Leeds Cathedral on Tuesday. September 24, the Feast of Our Lady of Ransom.
Following a visit to Leeds to arrange details of the ceremony, Dr. Dwyer is now on a visit to This will be the fourth conies cration of a Bishop in the present Leeds Cathedral since it was opened in 1904.
A " Last Letter " is written by Dr. Dwyer in the September number of the Catholic. Gazette. As Superior of the Catholic Missionary Society he pays tribute to the work of the priests of the Society " who have worked with me so selflessly and so cheerfully " over the past 10 years. He thanks too all those who assist the Society and the Catholic Enquiry centre " The decisions that 1 as Superior had to take when we decided to launch this and arty other new venture were always easier to make in that 1 knew we could always count on ready support from a great body of friends."
Finally, Dr. Dwyer asks for prayers; " I ask all who read this page to remember in their prayers the work to which I have been called in the diocese of Leeds and the Bishop who has to undertake It,
