WESTMINSTER YOUTH Over 2,000 at Cathedral

" Lord Jesus, true God and true Man, we choose You this day as our Leader and our King. Help us to save the world for You."
Two thousand five hundred young boys and girls recited this Youth Act of Consecration last Sunday, Youth Empire Day, during Benediction in Westminster Cathedral. They were hidden to stand for the Consecration by Fr. T. I. Fitzgerald, Chairman of the Westminster Youth As:Iodation, who recited the prayer with them from the pulpit.
" 0 Mary, Queen of Heaven and of Earth, help us to lead others to your Son," so continued the prayer, " bless our homes and the homes of England, your Dowry, that from them may come a new Youth that may build a new England for the Glory of God and the happiness of men."
Pre-service uniforms were much in evidence in the cathedral, contingents having come from all parts of the diocese. Bishop Myers gave Benediction.
In his sermon, Fr. Fitzgerald pointed out that the " leader principle" is no new thing; Christ had been the most successful of Leaders, having rallied to His standard. the Cross, not just one race, but " the placid Teuton as well as the impetuous Southerner."
Youth's demand for a true and lasting order after this war will have the backing of others this time. " Not so after the last war when determination flagged. You have men of my generation with you now who have accounts to square with this filthy civilisation. This time you will not be alone," promised the preacher.
