VETERAN OF 49 PILGRIMAGES AT PADLEY
4-county gathering
Catholics from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, went on pilgrimage last week to Padley Ohapel. Grindleford, where 362 years ago the Derbyshire martyrs, Nicholas Garlick and Robert Ludlam, said their last Masses and were captured.
A veteran pilgrim was 87-year-Old Mr. Ralph Malone. of Sheffield, who was accompanied by seven members of his family, including two grand
children. He has made 49 pilgrimages.
The Bishop of Nottingham, Mgr. Ellis, presided at Solemn High Mass, and in the afternoon several hundred pilgrims followed the clergy, led by the Bishop, his Vicar-General, Mgr. Canon Hargreaves, Mgr. Canon Parmender, and Mgr, John Dinn. of Leeds. in procession from the station to the chapel outside which an altar had been erected.
