Close on 200 pilgrims gathered on Sunday morning, July 16, before the steps of St. Mary's, Cadogan Street, to receive the Pilgrim's Blessing from their leader, the Rev. A. Welland, prior to their journey by motor coach to the Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham, On their arrival they were told the story of the Shrine and the greatness of Walsingham as they stood overlooking the great Priory Arch and in the distance could see the site of the Holy House of England's Nazareth.
Before leaving the Friday Market, all stood together while the Credo was sung, and then moved off along the Slipper Chapel Road singing hymns and reciting the Rosary and carrying the statue of Our Lady, which they had brought with them from Chelsea, and also a large candle which is to burn before the Shrine during the year. The pilgrims joined the first diocesan pilgrimage from Northampton for procession and Benediction,
