AMONG the 45,000 pilgrims
received in audience by the Holy Father in St. Peter's on Sunday were 1,000 who with their Bishop, Mgr. Massimiliani, had walked 30 miles from Civitacastellana.
Setting out at dawn on Saturday they went straight to St. Peter's on Sunday morning to attend Mass celebrated by the Bishop.
Another pilgrim in the crowd was 91-year-old Fr. Giuseppe Damiani. who had walked 50 miles from With pilgrims pouring into Rome in increasin* numbers, the Pope is now receiving huge groups three days a week.
The second saint of the Holy Year, Blessed Anthony Mary Claret, Archibishop-founder of the Claretian Fathers, will be canonised on Sunday. In the congregation will be more than 500 pilgrims from Liverpool.
