A POPE WILL BE BEATIFIED IN OCTOBER

THE beatification of Pope lnno-Icent XI is now expected to take place in St. Peter's on Sunday, October 7.
Two miracles proposed for the beatification were discussed at a meeting in the Vatican last week of the Cardinals, consultors and prelate-officials of the Sacred Congregation of Rites in the presence of the Holy Father.
His Holiness afterwards authorised the publication of a decree approving of their decision in favour of the miracles.
Pope Innocent, elected on September 21, 1676. died on August 11, 1689. His beatification cause was opened in the middle of the 18th century but was delayed because of the possibility of objections from France: the Pope had been engaged in a constant struggle against the absolutism of King Louis XIV of France.
