Beatified Pope to be seen in St. Peter's

THE Holy Father will return to Rome on Sunday, October 7, for the solemn beatification of Pope Innocent XI, whose pontificate lasted from 1676 to 1689.
The remains of Pope Innocent were taken some time ago from his tomb for canonical identification in the beatification process.
Now they will be placed in a crystal casket and placed before the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter's.
They will he robed -as was the body of Pope St. Pius X — in Papal vestments. The head will be covered with a mask of silver: so too will the hands.
VENERATION
Immediately after the reading in the morning ceremony of the decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites declaring the Pope " Blessed," the casket will be uncovered for veneration.
lhe Holy Father. according to custom. will not be present at this ceremony, but he will go to St. Peter's in the early evening to venerate the relics at another ceremony.
