Benedictine plan for Leyland
EYLAND (Lancs.) Urban Dis , trict Council have approved the detailed plans for the revolutionary design of the new St. Mary's church. A start on the construction work in Broadlield Drive is expected very soon.
The church, which will be circular. was planned by the parish priest. Fr. B. E. Fitzsimmons. 0.5.11. who made the first model. The design is now with the quantity surveyors. and the project will go out for tender within the next few weeks.
Estimated to Cost f IMMO, the church will seat 1,000 people. In addition to the main building, which will have a small side chapel, the plans provide for a dining hall and Benedictine priory.
