SOUTHAMPTON
The sum of £135 was raiseel towards the building fund of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Portswood Road, Southampton, by a garden fate held in the grounds of the convent of la Sainte Union des Sacres Coeurs.
DUNSTABLE Mrs. Margaret Yeo, a Catholic writer of some repute, opened what the local paper recognised as the " first Catholic event of its kind since the Reformation 410 years ago." It is to be hoped that event showed a material profit to Fr. Estaban lbeas, C.M„ parish priest of the Church of the Immaculate Virgin, Dunstable, proportionate to its significance.
NOR THFIELD Dame Elizabeth Cadbury lent the gardens of her home, and officially opened a fate in aka of the fund for the extension of Girls' Refuge, conducted by the Sisters of Charity, at Northfield, Birmingham. Sir Martin Melvin, JP., presided and Canon J. Roskell, of Birmingham, was present.
WORTHING The contract for the extension to the Church of Our Lady of the Angels, Richmond Road, Worthing, was signed last week and work commenced immediately. Canon Charles Westlake, parish priest, expects the work to be finished by April.
WESTON-SUPER-MARE
The new Church of Our Lady of Lourdes at Miton, Weston-super-Mare, was opened on Thursday, September 1, by Mgr. Lee, Bishop of Clifton. The church has cost £4,000 and takes the place of a temporary wooden structure.
FELTHAM The' new extension and reconstructed Church of St. Lawrence, Feltham, Middlesex, was blessed and opened for public use by his Eminence Cardinal Hinsley, on Sunday, September 4.
GRANTON, EDINBURGH
At the Edinburgh Dean of Guild Court on Friday, September 3, plans were passed for a new church hall at Boswell Parkway, Granton. The hall will be used as a ternporary church and is to cosi about £7,000.
