SLIPPER CHAPEL CONSECRATED

The consecration of the Slipper Chapel yesterday marked yet another milestone in the centuries-old history of Walsingham.
Crowds of people from all over the country attended the consecration ceremony which meant something more to Catholic England than other ceremonies of the same nature.
In the Middle Ages the Slipper Chapel was used by pilgrims on the last stage of their journeys to the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, desecrated at the time of the Reformation.
Though some two miles from the original shrine the Slipper Chapel is the only church directly connected with the great English traditions and relics of Norfolk.
A full account of the ceremonies will be published next week,
