Archbishop's Mass for dead friend

Catholic Herald Reporter
Archbishop Heenan of Westminster offered a Requiem Mass on Tuesday in the. presence of the German Dominican Sisters at Archbishop's House for Abbot Reetz of Beuron, who was killed in a road accident last week. The archbishop and the abbot became friends during the Vatican Council.
Alan McElwain reported in his "Rome Letter" in the CATHOLIC HFRALD on November 6 how Dr. Heenan, in criticising the schema on the Church in the Modern World, advocated calling in the help of lay experts who would know more about the world and its needs than professors and monks. .
Next day Abbot Reetz prefaced his speech with the remark: "I am a monk and an abbot, and almost afraid to speak". McElwain continued: "Archbishop Heenan was enchanted and then quoted the letter of congratulation Dr. Heenan sent to the abbot next day. The letter is now in the archives at Beuron."
