SIX DAYS OF CEREMONIES

Scores of Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, thousands of priests and tens of thousands of laity will travel by land, sea and air from all parts of the world to Barcelona in the latter part of May for the 35th International Eucharistic Congress, the first since the congress in Budapest in 1938.
For many months now the press and radio in Spain have been cooperating with the organisers to ensure its success, and in Barcelona itself and the towns and villages around have been making an all-out effort to arrange accommodation for pilgrims from abroad in hotels and private houses. A number of Atlantic liners will be used as floating hotels.
The Holy Father is sending a Papal Legate to preside over the ceremonies, which last from May 27 to June I.
Theme of the congress—which will be expounded by ec-elesiastics and laity in many languages—is " The Eucharistic and Peace."
Outstanding events will be many Pontifical Masses in the open air, the ordination of priests of several nations by a number of Bishops in Barcelona's largest sports stadium, Masses in various Eastern Rites, night adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the open IV many thousands of men, followed by Midnight Mass and general Holy Communion, and, finally, an immense procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the city, when the Holy Father will broadcast to the congress.
l'he principal ceremonies will he held in the splendid square formed at the crossing of the Avenida del Generalisimo and the Avenida de la Victoria. This was recently renamed Pius XII Square.
