From Mrs Jean Cale Sir, Michael Egan of the Roman

Catholic Caucus of the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement says he believes that the bishops are "scared" of listening and talking to gay people on issues surrounding them, and he makes the claim that the bishops rely on the "mendacious briefings" of fundamentalist pressure groups". Well, I do not belong to any pressure group, but I would say that most ordinary Catholics have done enough listening to socalled "Catholic" militant homosexual activists to last them a lifetime.
We have all heard loud and clear what the gay lobby has to say, and now it is time for them to listen — to the unchangeable teaching of the Church on homosexuality.
As long as groups like the Roman Catholic Caucus claim, as they do, that homogenital activity is in accord with Christ's teaching, then it is little wonder that the bishops seem reluctant to enter into dialogue on the issue of homosexuality.
The sooner Mr Egan and his fellow travellers realise this, the better.
Yours faithfully, JEAN CALE, Bournemouth BH11 9EH
