HONOUR FOR LONDON-BORN PRIEST

The Pope, members of the Hierarchy. clergy and laity of Canada joined with others in England and Ireland and the United States to honour the Rev. Joseph Scannell, 0.M.I., when he celebrated his 50th ordination anniversary in Ottawa.
In celebration of the jubilee, Fr. Scannell's parishioners presented him with boat tickets and a purse to enable him to come to his native England.
Fr. Scannell, who is stationed at Canadian Martyrs parish. Ottawa, is 73. Ile joined the Oblates 55 years ago. and has for 50 years been a superior. Born in London, he was ordained in Dublin on June 9, 1900.
Fr. Scannell soon will sail from New York to visit his sisters in London and to see old friends in Dublin. London and Liverpool. He served as parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Liverpool, from 1910 to 1921, and as parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Kilburn, London, from 1931 to 1935.
