POPE JOHN'S 80th

BIRTHDAY
PrHE 80th birthday of Pope -IJohn XXIII will be celebrated with special honour next Saturday, November 4, with acts of homage from the Universal Church.
The Pope's actual birthday is on November 25, but the celebration date has been moved forward to the date of his coronation three years ago.
In England and Wales the Hierarchy has granted to all parish churches permission for evening Mass on November 4. Priests, religious and faithful are urged to pray for the Holy Father's intentions.
At Westminster Cathedral, Solemn Pontifical Mass will be offered the previous evening, Friday, November 3, at 6 p.m. Bishop Craven will sing the Mass in the presence of Cardinal Godfrey and the Apostolic Delegate. The Mass will he attended by members of the diplomatic corps and other official representatives.
In Rome, Cardinal Montini of Milan will celebrate a Pontifical Mass in St. Peter's on Saturday morning in the presence of the Pope. The Mass will be attended by all Cardinals then in Rome— including a number not normally resident but who will have arrived for the second meeting of the Centes1 Commissions for the Vatican Council, Also present will be many diplomatic and civic representatives.
Among the other events to mark the Pope's birthday will he ceremonies connected with the building of a church and a hospitality centre for students from underdeveloped countries. Costs have been underwritten by clergy and laity in many parts of the world.
