Novitiate for Scotland's Jesuits

By John Donoghue SCOTLAND'S first Jesuit novitiate came into being this week at St. Mary's, Juniper Green, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It will serve as a Retreat Centre for men and boys. as well as being the novitiate for Scottish members of the Society of Jesus.
It was yesterday that Fr. John Coventry. S.J., Father Provincial. installed Fr, James Christie, Si., as Rector. Earlier. the house had been blessed by Fr. Patrick Lynch. in whose parish of St. Mark's, Oxgangs. the novitiate stands.
Although the opening was not a public event, the community at the novitiate were overjoyed when Archbishop Gray of St. Andrews and Edinburgh offered the first Mass in the new chapel, on Wednesday morning.
Fr. Francis Celia's, S.J. is Novice-Master at St. Mary's, and Fr. Joseph Whitaker is Minister.
