legion of Mir members from four major British Universities stated

last week that a proper approach to Legion membership would help students live the university life to the full and enable them to tackle university problems from a Christian viewpoint. The students, from Oxford. Cambridge, Liverpool, and Birmingham universit:es were at a two-day conference at Harborne Hall, Birmingham. Fr. Aedan McGrath. the Colurnban Father internationally known for his Legion work. outlined schemes where students can co-operate with other Legionaries especially in Holiday Apostolate Work. He also covered the Viatores Christi movement in which graduates devote their professional talents to serving in emerging countries for three to four years.
CORBY HEADMASTER. — Mr. Laurence Collins has been appointed headmaster of Northampton's first comprehensive school, the Pope John XXIII Catholic School being built at Corby New Town. Mr. Collins. 55. is headmaster of Our Lady of Walsingham School at Corby.
SERVICE.—Mgr. George Tomlinson. Administrator of Westminster Cathedral, was elected to the initial committee established to form the new City of Westminster Council of Social Service. It will co-ordinate State and voluntary welfare services in Paddington, Westminster and Marylebone.
ABBESS BLESSED.—Sister Mary Peter Wallace, who was elected Abbess of Syon Abbey, South Brent, Devon, last October. received on Tuesday the solemn Abhatial Blessing from Bishop Restieaux of Plymouth.
FR. FRANCIS ROBERTS, S..I., has been appointed Vice-Rector of the Scottish Jesuit Novitiate at Juniper Green, Edinburgh. Ile joined the staff there as Master of Novices in September last year.
CANON LAW SOCIETY.—Auxiliary Bishop Grant of Northampton has succeeded Mgr. L. MeReavy president of the Canon Law Society. Fr. D, Fogarty of St. John's Seminary, Woncrsh, has succeeded Mgr. D: Shanahan as secretary.
PILGRIMAGE OFF.—The annual pilgrimage to the Tower of London scheduled for tomorrow by the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom has been cancelled because of 'Sir Winston Churchill's funeral.
