London Catholic Orchestra The London Catholic Choir and Orchestra commences its 16th season on September 22. Cardinal Griffin has agreed to become a patron of the Society.
On the Feast of Our Lady's Birthday, Monday, September 8, Solemn 2nd Vespers will be sung by the Schola of St. Michael and All Angels, in the Church of Our Holy Redeemer, Cheyne Row, Chelsea, at 8 P.m.
OBITUARI ES
THE REV, ALFRED B. MOVERLEY
The death occurred at Leeds Infirmary on August 26, after a brief illness, of the Rey. Alfred 13, Moverley, aged 36, assistant-priest, St. Brigid's, Longwood, Huddersfield. A member of a Yorkshire family conspicuous for its devotion to the Faith throughout the penal years, he was educated at St. Bede's Grammar School, Bradford, and Ushaw Seminary, where he was ordained in 1936. Solemn Requiem Mass in the presence of the Bishop of Leeds and clergy from all parts of the diocese was celebrated at St. Brigid's, on Friday, by the Rev. F. Moverley, P.P. (brother). Mgr. C. Tindall, M.A., spoke in feeling terms of the loss sustained by the diocese by the death of the young priest. The interment took place at Killingbeck Cemetery, Leeds, Mgr. Tindall officiating.
THE REV. S. MONNINGTON The death occurred on August 19, of the Rev, Stanley Monnington, parish priest at Arundel from 1937 to 1939. Re resigned in that year and during the last few years suffered a great deal, being unable to move from his bed. During these ytars he showed great courage in accepting his trial, and must have obtained many and great blessings. Born in 1885, he was educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, and obtained his degree at St. John's Col lege, Oxford He studied for the Anglican ministry at Ely Theological College, and after ten years in the ministry, was received into the Church
in 1921. Afte a further period of studies at Wonersh, he was ordained In 1925, when be was made Chaplain to the Visitation Convent at Walmer. From there he went as Assistant at Arundel, and in 1933 became Chaplain to Avisford School. In the following year, he was assistant at the Sacred Heart, Hove, and in 1937 returned to Arumlol.
