VANDALS
Catholic herald Reporter Vandals smashed a large recently installed plate glass window at the Catholic Truth Society Bookshop opposite Westminster Cathedral in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The manageress, Miss Genevieve Carter, called by the police from her home near by, hurried to Ashley Place, only to be robbed outside Archbishop's House, a few yards from the shop.
Australian-born Miss Cartershe came to England three years ago "for a summer holiday" and took over the managership of the CTS shop last September-said that her handbag which was snatched by a thief wearing leather jacket and crash helmet, was returned to her later in the day minus £6 and her silver Rosary.
The plate glass window which replaced olde English style panes only a few months ago, was replaced on Wednesday. 'Nothing was stolen," Miss Carter told me.
