A leading member of the Jacobite schismatic clergy has been received into the Church by Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios of Trivandrum, who is himself a Jacobite convert. Father John, the convert, who is 67 years old. is a graduate of the University of Madras, and spent many years as professor of English at the Jacobite-owned Union Christian College Alwaye. Since his retirement in 1950 he has been busy with a comparative estimate of the claims of the Catholic and Jacobite churches. The conclusions he reached were published in a book entitled "The Future of the Malankara (Jacobite) Church." Married since 1925, he is the father of eight children. The Jacobite church does not forbid the marriage of priests..
