Fr. John Cuthbert Cooke, vice-rector of St. Bede's College, Manchester, has been appointed rector, in succession to Mgr. Gonne. who was lately drowned. Fr. Cooke was born at Macclesfield, and has spent most of his life in Manchester. He was educated at St. Rede's and Christ's College, Cambridge. He wa.s ordained in 1914.
