Students sample the delights of Italian island
A GROUP of Year 11 and sixthform students at St Mary’s School Menston in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, took part in an annual exchange visit to Sicily during October half term.
Students had the opportu nity to experience the language, culture and food of the Italian island, with visits to Syracuse and Mount Etna (which had erupted the evening prior to their visit).
Students also spent time in school with their Sicilian partners and gave a presentation to the entire senior school on St Mary’s partnership with Mnyakanya High School in South Africa, known as The Bambisanani Partnership.
Strong friendships were forged with Sicilian partners and within the St Mary’s group itself. Many of the students are looking forward to going back to Sicily to visit their partners, as well as eagerly anticipating their return visit in March.
