Family the focus of attention
NEARLY 50 CATHOLIC organisations of every hue will gather this week in London for a mighty celebration of the family.
The "One World One Family" event, being organised by CAFOD, will include talks, drama sketches, exhibitions, games, presentations, prayers, bishops' surgeries, discussion groups, music, quizzes, face-painting, videos, dances and cooking demonstrations.
One of the many exhibitions will be photographs by Latin American photographer Carlos Reyes-Manzo (see left). "It is fashionable for experts to divide the world into first, second, third and fourth in order to accommodate political and sociological theories," says Carlos.
"But if you are poor, and you are suffering, it makes no difference whether you live or die in the streets of New York, in a shanty-town in lima, or in a council house in London," "One World One Family" it at the Barbican tomorrow and is free.
