Exhibition of pilgrim& artworks

THE CONFRATERNITY OF ST JAMES is currently holding its first ever art exhibition: "Pilgrim's Eye", a collection of paintings inspired by pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The exhibition, which includes Michael Newgass's diptych "The Ground at my Feet" depicting the remorseless nature of the road and Alex Menzie's large oils that meditate on the theme of pilgrimage, is being held at Guildford Cathedral, Stag Hill, Guildford, until October 10. The opening times are 8.30am to 5.30pm, seven days a week and there is no admission fee.
The Confraternity of St James is a non-denominational organisation that was set up in 1983 to promote the pilgrim roads to Compostela. It has compiled the artworks of a dozen of its members who have taken part in the challenging pilgrimage — 994 miles from Le Puy, France, or 497 miles from the Pyrenees, Spain.
