Charming Caribbean chorus

Do NOT BE duped into looking for the Island Theatre in your West End theatre directory it is in fact the Royalty Theatre in London's Portugal Street, which for the occasion has been re-named. It may keep some audiences away.
Don't eat before you go, for at the theatre you can enjoy Caribbean food before or after the performance.
Don't be deterred, either, by the transformation of the theatre into a Caribbean carnival.
I arrived at the Island Theatre, thanks to being informed that it was the Royalty. I had already eaten, so no firsthand report on the food. I was nearly deterred by the extravagant change in the appearance of the theatre. To be frank, if it had not been
that I was accompanied, I might have left before the start of the show.
Waiting for the performance to begin, I certainly considered an emergency exit at the first interval. There is no interval!
Once the show starts, though, you are enchanted by this West Indies island. The story, charming as it is, becomes totally unimportant. A girl, frightened by a storm,
is told a tale, and that is the musical you are about to see. The musical is captivating, the setting sumptuous and yet simple, and as for the cast, it would be invidious to pick out any individual.
A team of talented Caribbean performers arc bewitching, whether singing or dancing, whether they are generously proportioned, as indeed some are, or whether they are young and agile.
Don't miss an unusual musical, there are too many familiar ones around.
