to the some correspondence regarding launching a Daily Catholic Worker. I do not know any of the technical difficulties in starting a newspaper, nor the actual cost. But the Daily Worker is run and financed by its dupes-and it's a striking indictment of the low mentality of the masses of the people in this country, that such a rag could find so large a circulation. What is to stop Catholics doing the same ? If there is anything. however small, we, as a Council cf the Knights of St. Columba could do to further this most pressing need, how glad we would be to have the opportunity of doing it.-B, M. FULLER, Grand Knight, Cirencester Council No. 390, Knights of St. Columba, Dunstall House, Cirencester, Glos.
[A Catholic "rag" might be as successful, but would a Catholic paper 7-EDITOR, CR.] Theatre-Lovers Association
For some time now the Theatre has been gaining ground towards the rehabilitation to popularity as a means of providing entertainment and putting over items of social and educational value.
It is because of this, and also that I wish to see a wider interest than ever before taken in the Theatre, that I desire to start a " TheatreLovers Association," the aims In idly being, to encourage new playwrights to produce their work, to arrange lectures, talks, etc., for members, to endeavour to bring the " stage " to the remoter towns and villages of Britain, where there is little or no entertainment, to exchange views between theatre-lovers, to get " outsiders " interested in the theatre and attempt to convey to them the art and work that is in progress behind the " scenes." Furthermore, to set up an "Information Section " to deal with all queries concerned with the stage, and a members' lending library dealing with the Theatre in general. If any of your readers are interested and wish to help me start a branch of the T.L.A. in London, I will be pleased to hear from them. -ARMAND GEORGES, 78, Hereford Road. Bayswater, London, W.2.
The Legion I can hardly think of a better organisation than the Legion of Mary to do the work suggested by your correspondent, Peter Anson, in his article on the Reconversion of the English Countryside, which appeared in your issue of November 12, 1948. Described by many Church authorities throughout the world, as the nearest approach to the ideal of Catholic Action as fostered by the Holy Father, the Legion of Mary hat definitely proved its universal adaptability.JOE DE MARTINO, 30, lsouard Street, Slime. Malta, Jane Leeson and Matthew Bridges I wonder if readers of THE CATHOLIC HERALD could give me any details regarding Jane E. Leeson and Matthew Bridges whose writings appear in both Hymns. Ancient and Modern and the Westminster Hymnal 7-(Miss) MARION CRAIG, Koolprra, 14, Adcney Avenue, Kew, Victoria, Australia.
Operating 16mm. Projector 1 have in mind the possibility of operating a small 16 ram. machine to show Catholic films or " shorts" for a parish Youth Club or Catholic schoolchildren, I am handicapped by lack of knowledge and would respectfully solicit and appreciate advice from any of your readers who may be in a position to advise me.-Inoe Dors !vox, 60, Querelle Road, Bridgend, Glam.
Books Required I am in need of Mr. A. C. F. Beak's Catholic Church and international Order and a copy, in good condition, of The Plymouth Hymnal. both of these for study purposes. Both these books are definitely out of print, and extremely hard to come by.-Rneis BourienAte FIO West Barrier Camp, Holton Heath, Poole, Dorset. [Purely personal needs cannot normally be advertised in this column. We recommend the personal advertisement columns. We print the above as " the exception which proves the rule."-Eorroit,
