BARMOUTH'S CHURCH CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY Boys and Girls on Holiday Join In
Last week the Church of St. Tudwal, Barmouth, Merionethshire, celebrated the Slst anniversary of its consecration, and in response to an appeal by the Rev. Patrick Collins, parish priest, for a large attendance at the celebrations, a very large crowd attended High Mass which was followed by a short Benediction. The Mass was sung by members of the Catholic Grammar School, St. Helens, under their choirmaster, Bro. Edward, of the De La Salle Brothers.
Among the congregation were the rest of the boys of the De La Salle College, who are spending a camping holiday at Dyffryn-on-Sea, only a few miles away. A party of girls under the Sisters of St. Paul from Fr. Hudson's Home were also present.
During his sermon Fr. Collins made special reference to the late Fr. Wilcock, who was responsible for the building of the church. It was significant, he said, that the Mass in memory of Fr. Wilcock would be sung by young men from his own native town of St. Helens, where members of his family are held in high esteem among the Catholic community, especially in the parish of Lowe House.
