FIRST ABBOT 'OF PRINKNASH Dom Wilfrid Upson, O.S.B.

Dorn Wilfrid Upson, O.S.B., was elected on March 10 first Abbot of Prinknash. Dom Wilfrid was parish priest of St. Peter's, Westgate-on-Sea. The Chapter Meeting was presided over by the Rt. Rev. Darn Anscar Vonier, Abbot of Buckfast.
Prinknash in Gloucestershire, whither the White Benedictines of Caldey, who were received into the Church as a body in 1913 after having been an Anglican community, was a Priory until a few months ago.
Since 1929 its Prior has been Dom Benediet Stewart, a brother of Fr. Robert Stewart, S.J., the writer of many wellknown devotional and mystical books.
