New papal knights

L"AMONN ANDREWS, known to millions as a radio and TV personality, has been made a Knight of St. Gregory in the recent Papal honours list for his services to the Catholic Stage Guild.
Also created Knights are: Sir Harold Hood, circulation director of the CATHOLIC HERALD, for services to Catholic publishing, and William Barr, the secretary of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The Order was founded by Pope Gregory XVI in 1831. The decoration is an eight pointed enamelled gold cross.
BIRTHDAY HONOURS Other prominent British Catholics figured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, announced last Saturday.
Amongst those honoured was Mr. James H. McGuinness, the Under-Secretary of the Scottish Development Department, who is the president of the Glasgow Circle of the Newman Assoc. Mr. McGuinness played a big part in the development of the new towns of East Kilbride and Glenrothes, in Fife. He was awarded a C.B.
Other Catholics who figured in the List were; Knight Bachelok.: Peter George Russo, for public services in Gibraltar; K.C.M.G.: The Earl of Oxford and Asquith, Governor and Commander in Chief, Seychelles; 0.11.E.: Hugh Gallagher, chairman, National Insurance local tribunal for Coatbridge; Wing Cmdr. A. D. J. McLachlan; Mr. Maurice Knowles, Press and Public relations officer, H.M. Customs and Excise.
Mr. J. T. Ganda, Headmaster, Catholic Boys' School, Serabu, Southern Province, Sierra Leone was awarded the M.B.E. The Royal Red Cross: Members First Class Award went to Lt. Col. A. Flanagan, Q.A.R.A.N.C.; Miss B. Quill, Q.A.R.N.N.S.
