A new altar in the Walsingham chapel of St. John the Baptist's church, Norwich, was consecrated by Mgr. Youens, Bishop of Northampton, last week.
Richly gilded and coloured, the new altar piece is a fine example of Norfolk craftsmanship and is the work of James and Lilian Dagless, of Walsingham. The central theme is the Crucifixion surmounted by Our Lady of Walsingham and
the Holy Child. The chapel is at the north-east corner of the north transept. The first Mass at the new altar was celebrated by the rector, Canon Squirrell.
