POLAND PROFESSOR S. DABROWSKI, an eminent Catholic, former rector of

Paznan University, has died in his 70th year. Archbishop Dymek and two Bishops took part in the funeral. Mr. Celiehowskl, last Mayor of Poznan, died recently in London. in exile. He was professor at the Polish Faculty of Law, in Oxford.

MR. MYRON C. TAYLOR, the personal representative of President Truman at the Vatican, will not return to Rome at the present time, but will go back if it is necessary, President Truman told a news conference in Washington recently. Mr. Taylor, who returped to the United States last Christmas, was in conference with the President shortly before this announcement was made.
THE SAN FRANCISCO archdiocese now heads the largest ecclesiastical province in the world from a geographical viewpoint. With the recent addition of the Vicariate Apostolic of Guam to the province, it extends from the Utah-Colorado border across more than 6,000 miles and nine time zones to the former Japanese-held Ryukyu Islands. The province now includes the Metropolitan See of San Francisco, the dioceses of Reno, Sacramento, Salt Lake, and Honolulu, and the Vicariate Apostolic of Guam.
A FUND of 50 million dollars to enable missionaries to be sent to Russia to pierce the iron curtain and reach the Russian people, was proposed at a Congress of Catholic Education, by Professor Schuster, Director of Hunter's College.
MAY 1 is to be set aside as a Day of Prayer for the people of Russia and other Communist-dominated lands in U.S.A., Canada and Hawaii. Public rallies, religious parades and ceremonies in churches in more than 200 U.S. cities have been arranged to pray for the conversion of Russia. The project is promoted by the Christopbers, an American Catholic organisation, and details of the proposal have been sent to all the American Bishops. More than half of the Archbishops and Bishops had given their approval by October last. In announcing the project, Fr. James Keller, M.M., the Director of the Christophers, said that it was not, in any way, to be considered a counter-demonstration to Communist and Socialist parades on May 1.
VENEZUELA
DESPITE the opposition of the Communist delegates, the Constituent Assembly of Venezuela has voted that the preamble to the new constitution, now being drawn up, specifically will invoke the guidance of God for the nation as a fundamental principle in its code of laws,
