The death took place on August 8 of the Rev. David Coghlan, parish priest of Braintree. He was educated at St. John's college, Waterford, and at Oscott, and was ordained in 1905. In August, 1913, Fr. Coghlan was appointed in charge of Braintree. This mission has no parochial church or presbytery and Fr. Coghlan devoted himself to raising funds for building. The people still have to attend the convent of the Franciscan Sisters at Rocking, where Fr. Coghlan had served for 22 years as chaplain.
The funeral took place on Monday last. The requiem was attended by the Bishop of Brentwood and some 25 clergy. The Bishop officiated at the burial. Fr. Coghlan was 62 years of age.
