in Southwark, leads a pilgrimage of the sick to Aylesford in Kent. Bishop Mervyn Alexander of Clifton travels on Friday with his diocesan pilgrimage to I ourdes for a week.
Bishop Daniel Mullins of Menevia celebrates the opening mass for a renewal conference that opens on Tuesday at Carmarthen. On Thursday, Bishop Augustine Harris of Middlesbrough attends a Cleveland Charities Foundation meeting.
Bishop John Crowley, auxiliary in Westminster, spends the week on retreat at St Beuno's, North Wales, from Tuesday onwards.
Obituary
Canon Peter Freed, a priest of the diocese of Arundel and Brighton, has died at the age of 69.
Born in 1922, he studied for the priesthood at St John's Seminary, Wonersh, and St Patrick's, Thurlcs, Co Tipperary. After ordination in 1950, he taught at St Peter's School, Merrow, between 1950 and 1969. In that year, he was appointed headteacher of Cranmore School.
In 1989, he was made an honorary canon of Arundel Cathedral.
