From the bishops' diaries

CARDINAL Basil Hume of Westminster, Archbishop Michael Bowen of Southwark, and Archhishop Maurice Couve de Murville of Birmingham are among those bishops attending the consecration of Brentwood cathedral on Friday (see above).

The Salford diocesan pilgrimage to Walsingham, with Bishop Patrick Kelly of Salford in attendance, takes place on Sunday. Bishop Daniel Mullins of Menevia is with the Welsh national pilgrimage to Lourdes all week, returning on June 1.
On Friday, Bishop Crispian Hollis of Portsmouth presides at the ordination to the priesthood of Robin Ellwood at Our Lady and St Edmund's Abingdon. Bishop Mervyn Alexander of Clifton inducts Fr Michael House CC as parish priest of St Thomas More's, Marlborough.
