OLYMPIC HONOURS

The highest honour in her swimming career was gained this week by Anita Lonsbrough, the 18-yearold Huddersfield swim-star who has been notching up record wins in swimming events throughout the world since she finished her school. lug at St. Joseph's College, Bradford. She was selected to represent Britain in the women's 200 metres breaststroke event at the Olympic Games next month.
Last week Anita was swimming for the Huddersfield Catholic Youth Club in the Huddersfield Youth Clubs' Swimming Gala. Needless to say she came out a champion.
She is said to be in lip-top form —a form that is going to create quite a stir when the big day in Rome arrives. Last month, lining up for Britain against Sweden in Cardiff's Empire Pool, she streaked home in the 220-yard breaststroke In 2 min. 53.8 secs.—her fastest time of the season.
This weekend she swims for Great Britain against Hungary in Budapest.
