AFTER ANITA
A BLOCK of flats in Halifax. II ristoreys high, was named after Olympic gold medalist Anita Lonsbrough on Saturday.
The Mayor of Halifax said at the official opening of the flats: 'The public was invited to make suggestions as to the naming, and 60 names were put forward. We decided on the name 'Lonsbrough Flats' in honour of the young lady who brought honour to our town by her achievements, particularly during the last year".
Anita Lonshrough is an old girl
of St. Joseph's College. Bradford. and she was the only British representative to win a gold medal for swimming at the Rome Olympics.
