THE MURDER OF BARON DE BORCHGRAVE Belgian Anger

It was announced last week in the Catholic Herald that the young Belgian diplomatist, the Baron Jacques de Borchgrave, had been murdered in Madrid was not as yet proved.
The fact .is now established beyond doubt. When the Baron's body was exhumed ie was found to have been shot in three places, one shot being fired from very close.
It is known that the Baron had been assiduous in his efforts to protect nuns, religious and inmates of religious houses from the Madrid Terror.
The Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs, at first sceptical about the stories, has since protested most strongly to the Madrid authorities and demanded a heavy indemnity. Many people in Belgium are asking for a rupture of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Red Spain, and though the Minister has had a talk with the Spanish Ambassador in Brussels, the behaviour of the Madrid authorities and the refusal to reply are considered to be likely to have serious results.
