AUXILIARY BISHOPS FOR THE POPE'S DIOCESE

POPE John last weekend appointed two young Auxiliary Bishops for his own diocese of Rome. They are: 49-year-old Mgr. Filippo Pocci, and 42year-old Mgr. Giovanni C'anestri. Both will serve as auxiliaries to 81-year-old Cardinal Micara who runs the diocese as Vicar General to the Pope. Cardinal Micara is already assisted by a Pro-Vicar, Cardinal Traglia, and by a ViceGerent Mgr. Cunial.
The two new bishops, unlike the Cardinals who also have various other posts, will be able to devote all their time to the needs of the Rome diocese.
