NEW POST FOR 'RED HELL' AUTHOR RR. HAROLD W. R1GNEY,
Regional Provincial of the Society of the Divine Word in England since 1956, and the author of "Four Years in a Red Hell", has been appointed rector of the Catholic University in the Philippines.
Born in Chicago, in 1900, he has been a member of the Divine Word Society for 42 years. He became a chaplain with the U.S. Army-Air Corps at the outbreak of World War II, and at the end of hostilities was appointed rector of the Fu Jen Catholic University in Peking.
In 1951 he was arrested by the Communists and imprisoned for four years. during which he was tortured and subjected to brainwashing. On release, in 1956. he spent four months in Hong Kong writing "Four Years in a Red Hell", which has had a world wide sale.
