MEMORIAL TO KING OF THE BELGIANS British Army and R.A.F. Present Ypres Rose Window

The largest Rose Window in Belgium is to be unveiled in Ypres Cathedral on May 21.
It forms part of the British Army Memo_ rial to King Albert of Belgium.
The unveiling ceremony will be attended by King Leopold of Belgium and the Bishop of Bruges. The Ypres League is organising a special pilgrimage tour from England, and it is expected that a large number of representatives of the British Army and Air Force will be present at Ypres.
Christ in Glory
St. Martin's Cathedral, Ypres, destroyed completely by the end of the war, has bee-n rebuilt to its original design.
In choice of artist and subject for the Rose Window, special attention was given to radiance of colour, keeping of the Gothic style and of a dignity proper to King 'Albert's memory and of the British Army and R.A.F. The subject chosen was Christ in Glory as expressed in the Te Deutn, the minor panels filled with the crests of the givers.
Crest Used for the First Time
In one of the small surrounding windows is the crest of the British Army. Given to the Army by King George V shortly before his death, this crest is here being used for the first time.
In the other small windows appear the crests of Belgium, the R.A.F., and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards (of which regiment King Albert was Colonel).
An inscription tablet bears the words: " To the Glory of God and in Honoured Memory of Albert I, King of the Belgians, Knight of the Garter, Field Marshal of the British Army and Colonel-in-Chief of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, the Rose Window in the South Transept is given to Belgium by the British Army and Royal Air Force."
