CARDINAL HLOND'S FUTURE

After an audience with the Holy Father on Sunday, the Polish Primate, Cardinal lelond, speaking to journalists, did not exclude the possibility of his returning to Poland soon, but said that this would depend on circumstances. The Cardinal is at present residing in Rome.
It is likely that the Lublin-Warsaw Government will facilitate the return of the Primate since this would considerably strengthen its position and underline its present policy of giving all freedom to the Church. The Cardinal, for his part, is likely to take the view that political questions cannot in themselves interfere with the normal pastoral duty of a Bishop. The Cardinal is Archbishop of Poznan and Gniezno.
