New link on May 4

MARTYRS AND HOME MISSION
HOME Mission Sunday-which will be observed on May 6 in all parishes of England and Wales -will be linked this year, and in future years, with the Blessed English Martyrs, whose feast is on May 4, and with Our Lady's month.
The priests of the Catholic Missionary Society who are engaged especially upon work for conversions have noticed an increased interest among Catholic people in the work of conversion over the past few years.
This was most strikingly shown at the conference of clergy and laity actively engaged in conversion work which had been organised in recent months by the C.M.S.
In Easter week 89 priests from all the dioceses and most religious orders met at the Cenacle Convent, Hampstead, to discuss this work.
Many of the priests had been experimenting with the inquiry class system in the last 12 months and much valuable information and experience was exchanged.
All were agreed that without the help of the laity, their efforts would be almost fruitless.
It was remarked that it is the laity who can, if they will, send up a great column of prayer to obtain the grace of conversions.
On Home Mission Sunday it is the desire of the Bishops that special services and special prayers should be offered for conversions and that each Catholic should make it a point of honour to offer that day for the conversion not only of England and Wales in general, hut of definite persons among his own relatives and friends.
