THE news that the Catholic Enquiry Centre hopes, within a few days, to enrol its 100,000th enquirer. comes fittingly this week for Sunday — the Feast of the English Martyrs—is Home Mission Sunday.
By direction of the Hierarchy, Sunday will be a day of special prayer for the return of the people of England and Wales to the Faith. Special sermons will be preached on this subject and on the duty of the laity to take part in the apostolate.
The Catholic Missionary Society, three of whose priests run the Catholic Enquiry Centre, also has nine .priests continually on mission work
in this country. During last year they preached some 70 missions in parishes and to the Forces. Many outdoor missions were given and also retreats to clergy, retreats to universities arid training colleges, and talks for nonCatholics.
On Wednesday and Thursday in Whit-Week, May 28 and 29, a conference of priests on conversion work will he held at Southwell House, 1..ondon, under the auspices of the C.M.S.
