Papal Delegate congratulates Earl Marshal

The Duke of Norfolk. Earl Marshal. was congratulated by the Apostolic Delegate on the "splendid achievement" of the Coronation ceremony when the Pontifical Court Club gave a luncheon at Claridges on Friday in honour of the Pope's Ambassador Extraordinary, Archbishop Cento.
With the Duke as guests of the Club were Cardinal Griffin and Mr. Selwyn Lloyd, representing the Foreign Office.
Commenting on the Coronation, Archbishop Godfrey said: "The frequent mention of the crown of St. Edward the Confessor reminds us of the Sovereigns of England and their link with the Apostolic See, while the very name of the Abbey. St. Peter. takes our minds at once to the Basilica of the Prince of the
Apostles in Rome.
"Hy a happy coincidence too we commemorate in our liturgy today the name of St. Bonifacc, or Winfrid. an Englishman who was, as is His Excellency' today. legate of the Pope. a zealous preacher of the gospel and who was commissioned by Pope Zachary to ancient Pepin King of the Franks. . . .
"We would ask His Excellency, the Pope's Ambassador. to assure the Holy Father that we are all united with him in loyalty and filial affection and that we pray that his guidance of the Universal Church may prosper more and more and be ever more bountifully blessed."
