PETER BANDER van Duren, the noted authority on Orders of Knighthood and Awards of The Holy See, tells one that miniatures of the Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice and of the Benemerenti medals of Pope John Paul II, with miniature ribbons, are now obtainable from Spink & Son of King Street, St James', London SW1.
Says Peter Bander van Duren:
"It has long been my feeling that a very large number of well deserving persons who receivethe Cross 'Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice' or the Medal 'Benemerenti', don't get the same kind of recognition as do, say the Knights. Cardinal Casaroli called them 'that mightly infantry division of the Holy Father's army', and those people really are the backbone of the Church."
