Christians act on Rhodesia
Rumours that the British Government will attempt a renewed settlement with the it legal Rhodesian regime by mid 1973 have spurred many con cerned Christians to action.
To make certain that any agreement is not at the expense of the mass of the Rhodesian people and that Britain lives up to its obligations a number of individuals and organisations in Britain, including churchmen and politicians, have come together to form the 1973 Justice for Rhodesia Campaign.
Principal objectives of the campaigners are to "ensure that Britain fulfils its constitutional. mural and historical obligations towards the people of Rhodesia" by insisting on a popularly elected government, in recognition of the Pearce Commission's findings, and by preventing out side powers, such as South Africa. from usurping Britain's authority.
The campaign committee is pressing for the immediate
withdrawal of the settlement proposals which were rejected during the visit of the Pearce Commission. and the intensification and effective policing of sanctions against Rhodesia.
